Last week, we discussed the benefits of an accelerator like ADA from the viewpoint of an individual data engineer. Now it’s time to shed light on the team management side of things.
With data platforms, the teams typically consist of highly skilled individuals. The foundation for leadership in such an environment is built on passion and dedication for professional pride. This blends into the operational, practical issues of running such a team. When we talk to our partners, three topics around the latter systematically arise.
First, a recurring event for team managers is resource change management. Examples are introducing new talents to the team as well as juggling resource management during absences such as holidays. ADA helps with its use of dependencies and visual cues for managing a customer specific environment, enabling a fresh resource to easily catch up on the essentials.
Second, we know from research that high numbers of skilled individuals flourish when being able to make decisions independently. In response, ADA creates the operational framework that specifies obligatory structures – leaving room for confident, independent decisions during the workday for everyone.
Third, team dynamics tend to improve when collaboration between team members takes place. When a large portion of the day-to-day operation are structured in a predictable manner, it is far easier for team members to collaborate.
Ideally, a team manager has the possibility to offer their team an optimized mix of independent responsibilities and intra-team collaboration. With the structured ways of working enabled by ADA, this is easily achieved.
